George Mallory, 1922

What we get from this adventure is just sheer joy. And joy is, after all, the end of life. We do not live to eat and make money. We eat and make money to be able to enjoy l ife. This is what life means and what life is for.

Great quote, Cherie, and one of my favorites from George Mallory. I actually use it to close my motivational keynote presentation "Climb Your Everest" (see http://www.jakenorton.com/).

I was fortunate enough to help discover Mallory in 1999 high on Everest - he was an amazing man in many ways. Check out http://mountainworld.typepad.com/mountainworld/2007/01/mallorys_insigh.html for my blog post with more of Mallory's quotes from Everest and elsewhere!

Thanks!
Jake
